Welcome to Kinetic Front Line Books, home of thrilling military science fiction written by two former United States Marine Corps infantrymen. Both of us have struggled with mental health issues since leaving the service. Our writing journies began as a way of processing our military experiences in a healthy and constructive way. We hope to reach others who may also be struggling or who are simply curious about real military life through a SciFi lense while providing entertainment along the way. We hope you’ll join us for tales of survival, bravery, betrayal, revenge, and redemption across post apocalyptic hellscapes, dystopian future societies, and far off planets.

After losing everything in the Succession Wars, Sergeant Marques Branch is just trying to survive. He and his partner Wells, a secretive former Terran Marine with a chip on his shoulder, are barely scraping by as freelance guns-for-hire. When a job goes sideways, they sign on with Highland Combat Applications, a shady private military contractor promising steady pay and a fresh start.
Highland ships them to Rumah Besar, a backwater DMZ world where interspecies tensions have erupted into civil war after the fall of the Grausian Empire. Marques is made platoon sergeant and with Wells, is assigned to Company D, “Doom Company”.
His new command is sent to root out rebels hiding in the jungle, but the mission doesn’t make sense. Branch’s platoon is stuck patrolling from a swampy outpost, chasing ghosts… until his soldiers start dying in ways no one can explain. Something is out there, hunting them from the shadows.
As the body count rises, Branch begins to question the corporation’s true motives and his own ability to lead. At the same time, a captivating dropship crew chief draws him into a slow burning connection that reopens old wounds. Haunted by the loss of his family during the Charee invasion of Aetheria, he’s forced to confront ghosts long suppressed by booze and the thrill of combat.

R.D. “MORHEW” Fluke continues a proud legacy as the third generation in his family to serve in combat. His nine-year tenure with the U.S. Marine Corps included three deployments to challenging environments such as Iraq and Afghanistan. His service has been recognized with several awards, among them the Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Achievement Medal, and the Purple Heart—a distinction he shares with two prior generations in his family. He channels his military experience into his passion for writing.
Professionally, he is a skilled CNC Machinist in the gun industry. Robert resides in Las Vegas, with his wife and son.

J.R. Wise is a combat veteran who did time in both the active duty Marine Corps and the Virginia Army National Guard. He deployed overseas seven times, including one all-expenses-paid trip to sunny Afghanistan, and picked up a decent collection of medals and stories along the way. These days, he channels the chaos of military life into writing gritty, character-driven sci-fi as a way to make sense of the trauma and keep the demons busy.
A big believer in mental health awareness, especially for veterans and first responders, Wise uses his stories to spotlight the stuff most folks would rather not talk about. When he’s not writing, he works as an athletic trainer for a local fire department, trying to keep those heroes patched up and ready for whatever the city throws at them. He lives with his amazing wife, Karen, and their beagle, Sandy, who’s in charge of morale.
